Outer Planes of the Abyss

The Astral Plane is a strange dimensionless area, very similar to Purgatory, which is connected to Dark Temple. Exiles who manage to get there and various entities who inhabit the plane appear to "float" through this region and teleport from location to location.

It is difficult to gain one's bearings as there appears to be only a couple of reference points, which appear in the southern areas of Astral Plane. One reference point looks like a small puddle. This puddle may be the means to mark a hidden exit from the Astral Plane back to the lowest level of the Dark Temple. To find the exit, current wisdom says go a bit north from the puddle and then go west. The other reference point is a red haze which is discussed below.

The Astral Plane is not normally a difficult area to survive in because it is sparsely populated. However, you can run up into tough monsters like a Greater Wraith there. Astral Guardians, Hooded Corpses, Faithless, Liches, and (the worst) Greater Deaths have all been spotted in the Astral Plane.

The Astral Plane is a walk in Puddleby Park compared to the Outer Planes of the Abyss (Ton shudders!). The entrance to this area is found in the center of a red haze in the Astral Plane. Ton found the haze near the puddle in his last exploration in the Spring of 533.

Maybe it is good that the entrance to the Outer Planes of the Abyss is hard to access. It seems almost everything that is nasty resides in this area; Dark and Demonic Vermine; Hooded Corpses and Faithlesses; all varieties of Wraiths; Liches and Greater Deaths; and Abyssal Hunters. Greater Deaths and Abyssal Hunters are about the toughest monsters one can encounter in this world.

In addition to the Abyss residents, one can fall victim to the lava pools, shown in orange in the map below, or be burned from flares erupting from various spots on the ground. So it would be wise that one enter this region with the utmost caution.

There is an exit out of the Outer Planes back to the Astral Plane. This exit is in the center of a white haze found in the south central region of the Outer Planes. Ton suggest that one make a very strong effort to find this exit right after entering the region. Otherwise one may find themselves quickly in poor health with no exit in sight.
